Origin picks DDB and Universal McCann

Origin Energy is to make a fresh start on its communications after picking new advertising and media agencies.

Origin today announced that it had selected DDB and Universal McCann.

The appointment marks the loss of the advertising business for incumbent The Campaign Palace, while it emerged earlier this month that OMD had lost the media account.

Universal McCann beat Starcom in the final round of the media pitch.

Origin said in a statement:

“As part of standard corporate governance procedures, Origin has been carrying out a review of its creative and media agency partners to support its retail business.

“Following a rigorous and transparent evaluation process we are now pleased to announce that DDB has been selected as our creative agency and Universal McCann as our media agency.

“We were very impressed with the high calibre of agencies which participated and the quality of responses to our brief.

“Our sincere thanks have been expressed to The Campaign Palace and OMD for their commitment and contributions to our business. They have played a key role in helping us lead in a challenging and competitive market.”
