Pandora Internet Radio opens Melbourne office with former CumminsRoss staff

Pandora Internet Radio has opened a Melbourne office and hired six new staff including former CumminsRoss media director Matt Hunt and account executive Marcus Ross.

The announcement:

SYDNEY, Australia, 22 January, 2014 – Pandora Internet Radio has started the New Year with a bang; increasing its local team presence with six new appointments to the business across Australia and New Zealand.

The new faces, including four in Australia and two in New Zealand will see Pandora establish new offices alongside of Sydney and Auckland, in Melbourne, as well as provide coverage in Wellington and Christchurch. The increased team will be tasked with driving engagement between Pandora and the local brands lining-up to tap into its unique and highly engaged audience.

Pandora’s commitment to expanding on the skills, expertise and insights of its local production, reflects the exponential growth the platform has seen since its local launch in December 2012 – a growth which now sees a new registered user every 30 seconds.

“In just over a year we have attracted over 1.3 million registered users who are spreading the Pandora message like wildfire through their networks,” says Pandora ANZ managing director, Jane Huxley. “In establishing an experienced and dynamic team in major cities across ANZ, we are responding to the market growth as well as the strong interest from local brands, better enabling us to grow relationships with our listeners, new brand partners and the local community in a more personal way.”

The new hires will bring new sales, business development and brand partnership specialisms to the multinational’s local arm. The two new sales appointments in Sydney will include top performing Sales Manager Monique Lapuyade, who with over twelve years’ experience in cross-platform creative solutions, joins the team from Mi9 Media, supported by Kate Roberts as sales coordinator.

The new Melbourne team, consists of account director and state business lead Matt Hunt, formerly Media Director at CumminsRoss and Marcus Ross from CumminsRoss as account executive. Hunt and Ross will be the brand’s first representations in the local Victorian market working with major agencies, and clients based in the southern states.

The new appointments come on the back of the announcement in December 2013 that Pandora had launched a commercial model with a combination of audio and display advertising across all platforms. Brands are now able to target audiences through use of Pandora’s first party data which provides segmentation based on age, gender and postcode location.
