Pat Crowley managing director of Ikon Communications’s Sydney office has announced he is moving to independent media agency Match Media in the role of operations director.

Crowley has played a key role at Ikon in the last few years taking the reins temporarily after the sudden departure of former CEO Dan Johns last year ahead of the arrival of James Greet.

John Preston, Founder and CEO of Match, said, “We have enjoyed significant growth over the past three years and diversified our service offering to now become a full service media agency. To ensure we continue to deliver the best for our clients, we have been looking for an outstanding media professional.

“Someone to help us manage our progression, establish a strong client service platform for future growth, and who gets where media is heading in the future.

“Pat fits the bill perfectly. He has lived and breathed the growth of Ikon over the years and experienced a hell of a lot in that time. He has excellent client management and people management skills, and he’s an awesome bloke who will fit in well with the Match culture. The operations director position is a new role at Match and Pat will have direct client line responsibilities together with a broad involvement in the agency’s operations to ensure that we are top of our game.”

Match has had an impressive two-years winning AdNews Media Agency of the Year, coming top in the Mumbrella/The Source Agency Review guide and awards in the MFA and Festival of Media as well as a string of new business wins including most recently Viking Cruises and last year Ikea’s media buying account just weeks after setting up its trading desk.

Crowley’s responsibilities will also include transitioning all future new business wins into the agency.

He said: “It was a really hard decision to leave Ikon as it’s been such a significant part of my life for the past 12 years, however I felt a change in my career was needed. When I reviewed the market Match stood out as the place to be and culturally was a strong connection, and we began discussions a few weeks ago.

“I’m joining the agency when it’s at the top of its game but also recognise its amazing potential. I can’t wait to be part of the next chapter in Match’s development.”
