Peazie kicks goals with Facebook AFL game

Social media and technology start up Peazie has worked with Collingwood to create a Facebook game for the club.

The announcement:

Social media marketing start-up Peazie has developed the AFL’s first social game of its kind on Facebook for the Collingwood Football Club, with more than 5,000 users participating in Magpie Shoot-out in the first week alone. The custom-made application challenges users to put their goal kicking skills to the test from six different locations on a virtual football field and against 12 weather conditions, including rain and wind.

Magpie Shoot-out gives users the option to play against AFL stars, as well as Facebook friends, and has high visibility on users’ Facebook walls, further increasing the application’s reach.

Peazie General Manager, Jayson Hornibrook said since launching Magpie Shoot-out the Collingwood Football Club’s Facebook page had gained more than 3,000 new likes in the first 48 hours of activation.

“Engagement levels are high, with each user playing Magpie Shoot-out an average of two times and sharing the application with their Facebook friends, increasing Collingwood’s reach,” said Mr Hornibrook.

Since starting work with the Collingwood Football Club, Peazie has helped the club’s Facebook community increase to 211,000 likes – the biggest Facebook following of any AFL club.
