Carat Perth appoints Adam Marshall as managing director as Alan Matthews retires

Marshall moves to the MD role after spending the last two years in Singapore as head of trading for Mindshare. He has previously worked in the UK and Australia with Y&R and Initiative, and launched Maxus Perth in 2006  and was also managing director of OMD WA.

He replaces industry stalwart Alan Matthews who is heading into retirement after spending the last seven years as head of the office, and was previously also head of Mitchell & Partners in Perth.

Simon Ryan CEO of Carat Australia & New Zealand said, “We are excited to have Adam on board to lead our Carat Perth Office. Our Carat Perth office goes from strength to strength including winning the Campaign Media Agency of the year only a few weeks ago so we are certainly well positioned for our clients and future growth. Facebook hires Melbourne agency head and head of telecommunications, technology and entertainment

Melissa Verner Green is joining the social network in the new role as head of agency, Melbourne while Jason Juma-Ross joins as head of telecommunications, technology & entertainment.

Verner Green joins from Fairfax Media where she spent five years in various roles including sales director in Victoria, and has previously worked for MCM Entertainment and various radio networks.

Juma-Ross was lead partner for PwC’s Digital Intelligence unit an has preciously worked for Accenture and AMR Interactive.

Both will report into Facebook Australia CEO William Easton who said: “Melissa and Jason will play a critical role in our efforts to help brands connect with the over 13 million Australians who use Facebook. These hires are part of our strategy for continued growth and investment in Australia.  We’re delighted to welcome Jason and Melissa to our team and look forward to sharing their extensive experience with the brands and agencies we work with.”

Nova appoints Wendy Saunders as music director for Nova 96.9

Saunders joins Nova Entertainment’s Sydney team to shape music strategy for the station and manage partnerships with leading record company representatives.

She has over 13 years’ experience in music programming and production, most recently as music programmer at MTV Australia. She also previously spent seven years at Foxtel across various roles including program manager and programmer for Channel [V], CMC and Arena.

Paul Jackson said: “We are delighted to have Wendy join the Nova Network. With extensive music programming experience across multiple platforms and strong knowledge of the market, she will be a great asset to the team.”

Isobar Group names Konrad Spilva as CEO after acquisitions

Konrad Spilva has been promoted to the CEO role of the DentsuAegis owned Isobar Group in Australia and New Zealand. The promotion follows the acquisitions of Soap and its game studio SMG.

Spilva co-founded Visual Jazz in 2001 which merged with Isobar in 2012, with the group now claiming 270 employees across four offices after several acquisitions.

Isobar Global CEO, Jean Lin said: “Konrad is highly regarded in the Australian and international market for his entrepreneurial spirit and honest, no nonsense leadership style.  He has had an incredible impact on the Isobar business since its inception in Australia and we are confident in his ability to lead it to even greater success in the future.”

Starcom hires News Corp’s Carl Colman as managing director for its Suncorp account

Colman has more than 20 years of media experience and comes to Starcom from News Corp Australia where he was director of national customer solutions, developing sales, data and content strategies across the automotive, travel & tourism, entertainment, health and finance sectors.

Prior to his role at News Corp, Colman was a partner at Publicis Mojo where he was responsible for delivering client services for the Publicis Australia Agency network.

Starcom MediaVest Group Australia CEO Chris Nolan said: “We are delighted to have Carl join our team. His experience and diverse credentials across media, content, digital and data will assist the integration and collaboration across all marketing disciplines”

Colman said: “I am thrilled to be joining the Starcom team and leading the Suncorp account. My role will be to strategically drive the Suncorp roadmap by creating human experiences for Suncorp and its customers.”

Colman’s appointment is effective from May 11.

Exponential hires account director and platform specialist

Exponential Interactive have appointed Tom Woodcock as account director and Alfie Lagos as platform specialist, to be based in Melbourne.

Ben Maudsley, managing director APAC and South Africa for Exponential Interactive, said: “These two pivotal roles in Australia reflect the growth of our Australian operation and our commitment to innovate and evolve our product and services to meet agency needs. Tom and Alfie bring considerable strategic digital and technical experience to Exponential and will further improve our market leading offer to agencies and brands.”

Woodcock joins Exponential from open ad management company Sizmek (formerly MediaMind), where he set up the Victorian office in 2012. He previously held a number of strategic account management and digital roles at Twenty3, MindShare and GroupM.

Lagos rejoins Exponential after taking a role as Digital Director at Vizeum where he was digital marketing lead across BMW Group activity. He previously spent four years at Exponential in London and Melbourne – most recently as account director for ANZ – as has worked in Sales and Operations at ninemsn.
