Pro-carbon tax supporters spell out their message to parliament
The Say Yes Australia pro-carbon tax campaign yesterday saw a large collection of placards at parliament house spell out the words ‘Say Yes To Clean Energy’.
As reported yesterday, the campaign included a book publishing effort targeted at MPs ahead of the vote on the carbon price, which was passed in parliament today.
The book and the placards carried reasons why people are supporting the tax.
The agency behind the campaign was Republic of Everyone.
someone needs to spell out exactly how the carbon tax will actually reduce the co2 in the atmosphere. not the usual mumbo jumbo but how the amount of co2 will reduce

someone needs to spell out why we need to reduce co2 in the atmosphere given that it is not a pollution and stimulates plant food, but the government does need to get to that budget surplus they promised I guess, and the hand out that has become an economic stimulus package for low income earners and industry as it is greater than the tax.
Damn now I’m all angry before bed…….

Mike Cross,
When you put punitive taxation on Option 1, you reduce the attractiveness of Option 1 relative to Option 2 and Option 3.
In that respect, carbon pricing works in exactly the same fashion as any other punitive tax. And as countless economists will tell you, it’s a strategy that’s been proven to work, if shifting behaviour is what you’re trying to do.
As the ‘undesirable’ options become more expensive relative to cleaner alternatives, the cleaner alternatives will become more attractive to businesses.
It’s not really any more complicated than that. Although it’s a big long to explain in a Daily Tele headline, so I’m not surprised that people are shouty and afraid.

This govt has no idea. Everything they do goes wrong and this will cost us dearly not only as a country but as individuals.
Go away Julia, Wayne and Bob!!!

Hey Hmmmm, it all falls apart when business just pass the increased cost of the ‘undesirable’ option onto the consumer.
Besides if the government was serious about cleaning up the environment they would subsidise so called cleaner energies and plant more tree, not raise revenue.
As Chinas economy is rolling over, shown in the last week by the blowout in their Credit Default Swaps and the rulers bailing out a bank or two this week, this ridiculous tax may not see the light of day yet regardless of whether it passes the senate this week or not, that can well be revered.
