Publishers Australia appoints Mumbrella owner Focal Attractions as management partner

publishers Australia logoPublishers Australia, the peak body for Australia’s magazine industry, has appointed publishing and events business Focal Attractions as its management partner with a brief to grow the association’s events portfolio and raise its profile nationally.

The industry body runs the annual Excellence Awards along with a number of training and networking events for publishers, and represents more than 100 leading B2B, specialist B2C and digital publishers in Australia.

Focal Attractions is the owner of  Mumbrella, business prospecting tool The Source, events including Mumbrella360, CommsCon and BeFest, and a training division including Digital School and Social Media Academy.

Publishers Australia chairman Geoff Hird said: “Everyone knows it’s a tough time to be in publishing, so it’s more important than ever that Publishers Australia delivers value to its members via networking, training and events. We believe Focal is well placed to help us deliver that value. Their support will allow us to run the association more efficiently and return more benefits to members.”

Focal Attractions CEO Martin Lane said: “As a long-standing member of Publishers Australia, we know how important a strong trade association is to businesses like ours. The Excellence Awards are always the highlight of the year – the only awards in Australia that feel like they’re truly for our sector – and we look forward to making them, and the rest of PA’s events and training portfolio, bigger and better in the months ahead.”

Plans for a nationwide events program and an updated Excellence Awards will be unveiled in the coming weeks.
