QBE cuts independents from media pitch with shortlist down to three

QBEIndependent media agencies Match Media and The Media Store are understood to have not made it through to the next round of the QBE media pitch, Mumbrella understands.

The pitch for the largest Australian-based global insurer QBE is now thought to be down to three agencies – incumbent Carat against, Havas and ZenithOptimedia – following presentations which were held just after Easter.

Mumbrella understands OMD also pitched on the account, but withdrew due to a conflict.

Earlier this month, Mumbrella revealed that documents had been sent out with many of the agencies forced to work over the Easter break on the pitch.

All agencies contacted declined to comment.

QBE is the largest Australian-based global insurer, providing services mainly to Australia, America, Europe and Asia Pacific region.

According to Nielsen in Australia the company has an estimated $11.8m main media spend over the last 12 months, although with the digital component the spend is likely to be closer to $15m.
