QMS locks in Canberra Airport contract in its first ACT, and airport, tender win

QMS has won the exclusive sales and marketing rights for Canberra Airport, marking a major milestone in the outdoor company’s growth.

The new contract, which was previously held by APN Outdoor, marks the first time QMS will enter the Australian Capital Territory’s outdoor advertising market, and its first venture into the airport media category.

QMS will be responsible for evolving media assets inside and outside Canberra Airport, commencing with the development of a premium landmark digital billboard, which according to QMS, will be the first and only roadside digital sites available within the ACT.

QMS CEO Barclay Nettlefold said the new partnership was the result of a “development led approach and strategic meetings of the minds.”

For Stephen Byron, managing director of Canberra Airport, the decision was based on partnering with “a progressive and consultative outdoor advertising operator” that shared similar values.

“QMS have demonstrated great knowledge, smart thinking, transparency and have already proven to be a valuable partner. We are very excited to be a part of QMS’ foray into Canberra and Australian Airports.”

Over the last six months, QMS has expanded its digital footprint across Melbourne, has locked in partnerships with Netball Australia and Virgin Australia Supercars, and posted a 78% revenue jump for the first half of FY17.

A spokesperson from APN Outdoor said:  “We have enjoyed a wonderful relationship with Canberra Airport over close to two decades, but remain disciplined with our commercial commitments on all contracts.

“Our strategy is to focus on the main Metro markets of Australia and New Zealand.”
