Quickflix hires Kristin Marlow as chief content officer to lead strategic direction

Movie streaming service Quickflix has hired its first chief content officer to take charge of the strategic direction of the company.

Kristin Marlow, a media executive with 20 years’ experience as a consultant working across TV and IPTV, joins Quickflix in a newly created roll following a period of growth for the company.

She joins Quickflix from Captain and The Chief where she worked with creative strategist Jacquie Riddell.

Marlow had previously spent three years working with SBS where she developed content to launch digital channel SBS2 and was head of content for Foxtel’s arts channel Studio and World Movies.

The media executive also worked with Telstra BigPond Movies as their general manager, and with IPTV and video on demand (VOD) operator ReelTime Media, as well as TV3, Channel Ten, and companies such as NBC Universal as a consultant.

At Quickflix Marlow will oversee the creative and commercial development of the content strategy and take responsibility for the strategic direction and development of all content programming, licensing and merchandising with a focus on streaming.

Stephen Langsford, CEO and founder of Quickflix, said her appointment follows demand for its streaming services growing at 20 per cent per quarter at the end of last year.

“We are delighted to have attracted some one of Kristin’s calibre,” he said in a statement. “Her skill set, combined with her knowledge and experience within the industry, makers her an excellent choice for this job.”

Marlow added: “I’m thrilled to be joining Quickflix I join at a very exciting time for Quickflix as Australians gravitate more and more towards online streaming, and show a significant appetite to enjoy their favourite movies and TV shows when, where and how they want it and on any device”
