Melbourne beats Sydney again in December radio revenues

Melbourne’s radio ad market once again outstripped Sydney in December, as the overall metropolitan radio market grew 2.82 per cent in the last six month’s of 2013 to $355.687m according to Deloitte.

The Victorian capital recorded 0.46 per cent growth to $16.447m in for the final month of 2013, after shrinking for the two previous months, while Sydney posted 2.29 per cent rise to $15.488m.

However, the Sydney market was bigger for the final six months of the year overall up  2.64 per cent to $109.708m for the last six months of the year, with Melbourne showing bigger growth of 4.19 per cent to $108.802m in that period.

Perth was the biggest winner in December up 3.71 per cent compared to 2012 to just over $8m for the month, with Brisbane the second largest riser up 3.02 per cent to $8.607m, while Adelaide posted a 0.18 per cent increase to $5.036m for the year.

In the final six months of 2013 Perth grew 4.01 per cent to $49.778m, Brisbane climbed 2.12 per cent to $55.419 million but Adelaide was down by 1.60 per cent to $31.980m.
