REA Group and Domain lead Apple Watch charge with property apps

rea apple watchReal estate classifieds brands Domain and Realestate.com.au are set to become the first Australian brand to capitalise on the new Apple Watch releasing a new app for the soon to be released product to make home hunting easier.

Apple announced it was to release a much-anticipated watch just over a fortnight ago, with some experts predicting smartwatches, which synch to mobiles, will become the “remote control to the remote control of your life”.

The new apps will both send alerts about homes for sale to the watch, whilst REA Group’s offering will give GPS directions to the property and allow users to record voice memos about the home to it, and synch to their Realestate.com.au account.

The Fairfax property group’s app will allow search and viewing of preoprty information, details of inspection times schedule inspections and organise favourites, as well as linking to the iPhone app.

REA Group chief product officer, Henry Ruiz, said: “Our product philosophy is to be on all devices that people use in their property search, to make their journey simple, efficient and stress free.

“We’ve also created an app that gives real estate agents a new way to effectively market their properties to audiences in the locality of their property. This opens up a whole new realm of possibilities to capture the interest of potential buyers who ‘stumble across’ properties in their immediate area.”

Domain’s chief product officer Damon Pezaro said in a statement: “We know our audience are heavy users of smartphones and tablets as utilities. They’re searching for property on their way to work, at home and in between meetings.

“The Apple Watch is a great piece of personal technology that has potential to tap into and improve this process. So it was important for us to create a useful tool that integrates the search for property seamlessly into a person’s life, making their overall experience more enjoyable and efficient.”

Apple Watch goes on sale on April 24.
