Resurrection sheds viewers but hands Seven total people win, but Nine holds 25-54s

American supernatural drama Resurrection lost viewers on its debut of 1.9m last week as the show averaged 1.547m for the second episode last night, according to preliminary overnight metro ratings from OzTam.

The show dropped from its number one slot to second place behind My Kitchen Rules last night, which averaged 1.621m for Channel Seven, with the channel winning the largest share of the audience in all people with a 27.3 per cent share, with Nine getting 25.7 per cent and Channel Ten 9.3 per cent.

Nine’s  The Big Bang Theory and The Block were third and fourth in all programs, but were top in Nine’s target demographic of people 25-54.

The Big Bang Theory episode in which Sheldon and Amy finally kissed at 9pm had 1.51m total viewers and was the top program in people 25-54, while The Block had 1.415m metro viewers and was second in the key demographic.

The Biggest Loser at 7.30-pm on Channel Ten had 295,000 total viewers last night, gaining ground on last week when Ten marked its lowest audience yet for the show with 268,000 ranking it below a repeat of British documentary The Queen’s Mother in Law on SBS One.

NCIS: Lost Angeles and NCIS brought 469,000 and 417,000 to Channel Ten from 8.30pm and the show was one of the most timeshifted last week as the audience for NCIS lifted to 546,000 and NCIS: Los Angeles to 517,000.

Resurrection was the most watched show in time-shifted viewing as it gained 229,000 viewers over the last seven days, increasing its total audience for episode one from 1.911m to 2.141m throughout the week.

In the evening newshour Nine was ahead of Seven with Nine News averaging 1.198m as Seven News had 1.077m across the five cities from 6pm, and 1.122m from 6.30pm as Seven News and Today Tonight averaged 994,000. Nine also won the 7pm timeslot with A Current Affair taking 1.103m as Home and Away had 961,000 on Seven.

Seven won the morning battle with Sunrise taking 358,000 as Today averaged 306,000 for Channel Nine.
