R/GA claims Cyber grand prix for Nike+ FuelBand

Nike + FuelbandDigital hot shop R/GA, which is soon to open an office in Sydney, has won the grand prix in the Cyber Lions for Nike+ FuelBand.

The band measures how much exercise the wearer does, enables them to set goals, talk about their achievements and compete with their friends on social networks.

The much hyped product has yet to launch in Australia.

The Cyber Lions have proved to be Australia’s weakest link in Cannes so far, with not one of 81 Aussie entries making the short list.

New Zealand managed a brace of finalists, although neither Colenso BBDO or String Theory Auckland converted their chances into lions.

R/GA’s chairman Bob Greenberg said that the agency would start out in Australia with a team of four staff. The agency, which recently earned a place on the Qantas roster, would not be looking to make acquisitions to grow quickly, Greenberg said.

Greenberg announced his plans to launch in Australia in an article in B&T earlier this week.
