Richard Freudenstein announced as ASTRA Conference keynote
The Australian Subscription Television and Radio Association’s 2013 Conference has announced Foxtel CEO Richard Freudenstein as the first keynote speaker as well as Mark Hollinger, president an CEO of Discovery Networks International.

The Australian Subscription Television and Radio Association (ASTRA) announced the ASTRA 2013 Conference will be held on Thursday, 14th March 2013 at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre. Under the banner Enhanced Entertainment, the annual Conference will bring together global and local subscription television industry (STV) thought leaders and will reflect on the increasingly significant role digital devices and screen options are playing in differentiating the content and services of TV platforms.
Mark Hollinger, President and CEO, Discovery Networks International will present the Programming Keynote Address. A Discovery veteran, Hollinger oversees a vast international operation that distributes 27 entertainment brands, in 45 languages, to more than 1.3 billion cumulative subscribers in 209 countries. Discovery Networks International operates one of the most extensive international television businesses in the media industry, delivering quality content designed to inform, entertain and inspire the world.
Richard Freudenstein, CEO of Foxtel will present the Platform Keynote Address providing an update on Australia’s national STV provider’s latest innovations and programming line-up.
The ASTRA 2013 Conference will tap in to the pertinent issues in an evolving TV landscape. Attendees can expect to delve into the issues shaping STV and discuss how Australia can lead through innovation and content creation,” said Petra Buchanan, CEO of ASTRA.
The day-long Conference program will bring to light opinions from leaders across the industry, allow for discussion and debate through a combination of break-out sessions and provide networking opportunities throughout the day, at the Women in Television breakfast and at the lunch and cocktail functions.
The ASTRA 2013 Conference will also honour excellence with the ASTRA Pioneer Award – which recognises the inspiration and hard work of a deserving individual, and the ASTRA Industry Excellence Awards – presented for exceptional contribution in the STV marketing and promotion sectors.
