SAGE masterclass on building great agencies returns

Mumbrella’s one day masterclass in building high performing agencies is to return to Sydney and Melbourne at the end of 2014.

SAGE – Secrets of Agency Excellence – is organised by Mumbrella’s sister title, marketing database tool The Source.

It takes place in Sydney on Tuesday November 25 and in Melbourne on Tuesday December 2.

SAGE ran for the first time last year and was attended by business owners and executives from creative, digital, PR and other types of specialist agencies.

The program will include a keynote opening focusing on disruption from Simon Corah, who was founding partner of M&C Saatchi in Australia in 1995, and now runs management consultancy Growth Mantra.

William Leach, boss of The Leach Partnership will present a session on how to apply business planning that goes beyond simply setting budgets.

Darren Woolley, boss of agency relationship specialists Trinity P3 will share tips at both the Melbourne and Sydney masterclasses on how agencies of all types can get paid by clients what they are worth.

And Virgin Mobile CEO David Scribner will present at the Sydney event on strategies for agencies that want to connect with CEOs.

The Melbourne event will see one of the first appearances from Jim Moser since he took the helm of Clemenger BBDO Melbourne, as he joins a panel with Cummins & Partners’ Chris Jeffares, AJF co-founder Adam Francis and Atomic 212’s Group CEO Jason Dooris to discuss what modern agencies look like.

And the same panel in Sydney will see the first appearance from Tim Riches since he took the helm of PR giant Edelman. He will be joined by Ikon Communications boss and media veteran James Greet, and Together Co co-founder and former Saatchi & Saatchi boss Simone Bartley.

The Sydney panel on building agency talent and culture will feature JWT CEO John Gutteridge, Mindshare’s chief of talent Kerry Field, The Works co-founder Kevin Macmillan, Together Co founding partner and former TBWA London president Lindsey Evans, and Wentworth People Founder Richard Wentworth-Ping.

The Melbourne event will also see a presentation from Navigare managing partner Jeff Estok on how to win client-managed pitches.

Both events finish with a Q&A panel featuring senior clients. Marketers on the Sydney panel include LG Electronics’ Lambro Skropidis, Kimberly-Clark’s Anastasia Barlas and Goodman Fielder’s John Chatterton.
