Sam Newman returns to Triple M
Triple M Melbourne will tomorrow unveil Sam Newman to its Melbourne listeners as part of its AFL lineup.
Newman – best known for his often controversial role on Nine’s AFL edition of The Footy Show – will have a role across Triple M’s Melbourne schedule.
Friday nights will see him join Luke Darcy, Garry Lyon, Jason Dunstall & Damien Barretton The Rub to talk about the coming football weekend on the Southern Cross Austereo station.
He will also be a regular on Triple M’s Eddie EcGuire-helmed Hot Breakfast Show which also features Mick Molloy and Luke Darc,y as well as contribute to drive-time show The Rush Hour with Billy Brownless and James Brayshaw.
Newman’s previous stint with the station ended after he had an on air bust up with a listener. He will not be involved in calling matches.
Brayshaw said: “Sam’s a sports entertainment phenomenon who has been missing from our station for too long. It’s great to have the old boy back and now he’s just gotta behave himself.”
Newman said: “I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am about coming back to Triple M – so, I won’t try to.”
Southern Cross Austereo’s Melbourne GM Ben Amarfio said: “We are genuinely thrilled and a tiny bit nervous to have Sam back at Triple M.”
Newman will be on tomorrow’s Hot Breakfast to be officially reintroduced to listeners.
