The Saturday Paper to expand distribution into Adelaide and Brisbane

Saturday PaperThe Saturday Paper, a weekly newspaper launched by publisher Morry Schwartz in March, is set to expand distribution into Brisbane and Adelaide from this Saturday.

Rebecca Costello CEO of Schwartz Media told Mumbrella: “We are moving into South Australia and Queensland. We originally had no intention of doing this early but reader demand has been strong with people telling us that they have been getting their friends to buy it and post it to them in Brisbane.

“At this stage we are airfreighting copies to Adelaide and Brisbane. In those cities we will be in newsagents as well but at this point there will be no home delivery.”

The newspaper is already available in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra with Costello saying the print run was “still around” 80,000-100,000 across those cities and that despite the expansion they expected the number to remain under 100,000 copies.

“It is still around there but the number will depend on what the final orders are from Brisbane and Adelaide. We made a decision to stay at the number for the next few months until we get some good data,” she said.

We are continually having sellouts in areas, even when we put copy numbers up.”

The launch into Adelaide and Brisbane will be supported by advertising  and social media campaigns, sampling and point of sale material.

From this weekend consumers in the Gold Coast, Hobart and Perth will also be able to buy copies at the Newslink newsagency at the airport.
