Say Yes campaign sends books to MPs ahead of carbon price vote
The Say Yes Australia campaign to back a tax on carbon has published a book of reasons why people are supporting the tax.
The book has been sent to every MP in Australia – before the carbon price is voted on in parliament. The vote is expected tomorrow.
Reasons why people back the carbon tax were collected via an online campaign launched last month, and used as content for the books and for placards placed outside parliament house.
The Say Yes campaign, which is backed by nine non-governmental organisations, shifted to grass routes approach in September, encouraging its supporters to say why they support the carbon tax, and pass their reasons on to those they know.
The campaign, which is devised by sustainability specialist Republic of Everyone, kicked off in May with a TV ad featuring actress Cate Blanchett and Michael Caton.

I hope they’ve offset all that carbon usage.

Shouldn’t they have emailed it instead?

I question the method in which they collected the “Reasons” ? All of these “Reasons” could all be from the same person because there doesn’t seem to be any varification procedures.

Dan O. The process I used was enter my ‘Reasons’ which included my email address, which was emailed back to me as a poster and then I ‘posted’ it to my local member and onto FB etc.
Great campaign tools. and super easy to get involved.

Trevor, apparently it is a well known fact that the computers that send, receive and support email infrastructure, consume no energy resources.

@Michael
Of course they do, my comment was tongue in cheek. It would use a lot more carbon to produce, print and distribute these than it would to use email.
Regardless of this specific email going out “computers that send, receive and support email infrastructure” would still be using power anyway as they are devices that are imperative to business, so really the cost in carbon is close to zero for this additional email.
The same cannot be said for the cards… just saying.

The messages look like they have been written by children.
