ScreenWest appoints two new board members

ScreenWest has appointed Catherine Ferrari and Christopher Holman to its board.

The announcement:

Janelle Marr, the Chair of the ScreenWest board today announced the appointment of two new members to the board.

Catherine Ferrari will re-join the board after serving a previous term from 2005 – 2011. Christopher Holman will also join the board.

Ms Marr said the appointments were timely with ScreenWest currently developing a new agency strategic plan.

“Both new members will bring fresh insight and build on existing strong foundations.  This will be vital, not only to the development of the new strategy, but also in driving implementation.”

“The appointments ensure the ScreenWest board has a mix of screen industry and external representatives, providing a wide range of skills and knowledge on which to draw upon,” she said.

Ms Ferrari is General Manager Customer and Community at the Water Corporation and was formerly a director of the West Australian Opera.  She was formerly Chief Executive of the WA Symphony Orchestra and State Director of CPA Australia.

Mr Holman is the Director/ Owner of Azure Capital Limited and brings a wealth of corporate advisory experience including mergers and acquisitions, principal investments and capital markets transactions. He is also the Director of Aboriginal Maritime and a Director of Take 5 Safety Solutions.

Ms Marr also acknowledged the significant and valuable contribution outgoing board members Alan Lindsay and Dax Calder had made to Western Australia’s screen industry.

“With more than 20 years’ experience in the screen industry Mr Lindsay offered great industry knowledge and inroads in to the Chinese marketplace.  Mr Calder’s strong business acumen provided great counsel to the Board. We appreciate their dedication to the agency,” she said.

“ScreenWest received the 2015 Premier’s Award for Excellence in Public Sector Management in the category Western Australia in Asia, for the work the agency has undertaken to develop production opportunities in China.” Leveraging these initiatives would enable further growth and development of the Western Australian screen industry.

“Production levels for feature films in Western Australia is at a healthy level. Jasper Jones started filming recently in the South West, as did A Few Less Men, while Other Life and Bad Girlrecently wrapped and Breath, starring Simon Baker, will film in the Great Southern in 2016” she said.
