Seven and ABC dominate Sunday while Ten clocks up 95.6% in Melbourne for AFL final

Seven and the ABC dominated Sunday night’s viewing, with each of them pulling in four of the top ten slots.  

Seven won Sunday with a share of 27%, while Ten had another below 20% performance, according to preliminary TV ratings from Oztam.

  3. Border Security Seven 1.4m
  4. The Force Seven 1.4m
  5. Sunday Night Seven 1.3m
  6. Nine News Nine 1.2m

  8. ABC News Update ABC 1m
  9. ABC News ABC 0.985m
  10. Australian Idol Ten 0.984m

Sunday’s share:

  • Seven: 27.0
  • Nine: 21.2
  • ABC1: 21.1
  • Ten: 18.3
  • SBS1 4.9
  • GO!: 3.2
  • ONE: 2.5
  • ABC2: 1.5
  • SBS2: 0.4

However, it was a different story for Ten on Saturday afternoon when the channel recorded one of its best audiences of the year, with the AFL grand final rating an astonishing 95.6% commercial share in Melbourne. Across the five cities it rated 2.9m, rising to 3.4m taking into account regional viewers.

  2. I just can’t believe there were actually 4.4% of people in Melbourne not watching it. Perhaps they were members of the Melbourne Storm warming up for their game?

    And Go!/One getting almost 6% between them on a Sunday? That’s more than SBS.

    There was actually 66% of Melbourne who didn’t watch the AFL Grand Final. Of the people who were watching TV on Saturday afternoon, 85% watched the Grand Final. The 95.6% reported is the proportion of people who were watching commercial FTA TV at that time.
