The book by Andy Griffiths was called The Day My Bum Went Psycho. has “bum” become offensive or has cultural imperialism taken over?

Scots films like ‘that sinking feeling’ and ‘gregorys girl’ got re-dubbed in the USA for general release because Scots was too hard to understand.
GO probably bought the rights to screen back from a US copro house, and BUM == tramp in US parlance (“hallelujah I’m a bum” is an old depression era song) so it got re-branded for US release to Butt..
