Seven cashes in on MasterChef popularity

The new reality cooking show, My Kitchen Rules, which Seven hopes will rival Ten’s MasterChef, will be judged by celebrity chefs Peter Evans and Manu Feildel.

Seven cashes in on MasterChef popularity MKR judges Peter Evans and Manu Feildel 8254 350x233

Both are established TV personalities, with Evans having appeared on Nine’s Fresh and as a guest judge on MasterChef, while Feildel has been on Ready Steady Cook.

My Kitchen Rules, an original Seven production from the makers of My Restaurant Rules, will search the country to find the best home cooks who can successfully transform regular Aussie  homes into instant restaurants for one night.

Teams of two will do battle in a home kitchen, with the best duos moving into the finals where they will compete in a custom-designed restaurant space.

The top two teams will then battle it out as they serve up their best three course meal to a full restaurant.

The programme is due to premier in the new year.

Last week, Celebrity MasterChef helped buoy Ten’s ratings, attracting 1.2m viewers on Wednesday night, according to preliminary OzTam data.

If it flops, I guess there are career options as Sunrise chefs instead

Also, the lack of photoshopping in that image is a bit painful.

  8. its also a calculated to move to tire out the genre. Over-exposure of amateur cooking shows now means less viewers for masterchef later

  16. I hear that Channel 9 is expecting a ratings hit with CSI: Rooty Hill.

I am sure it would still be better than Hey Hey It’s Wednesday! Purrrrlease.
