Seven relegated to third place while Ten tops the ratings on the back of Masterchef success

MasterchefIn a quiet night on TV Ten won the evening with Masterchef pulling in 1.363m metro viewers, handing the channel a winning audience share of 18.4 per cent.

The cooking show easily out-rated Seven’s Border Security – Australia’s Front Line which was watched by 743,000 metro viewers while Nine’s RBT grabbed 617,000. Masterchef was also the most-watched show across the key advertising demographics (16-39, 18-49 and 25-54).

Nine claimed an audience share of 18.1 per cent while Seven settled for third place with a share of 17.3 per cent. The ABC managed a share of 12.5 per cent.

Ten’s The Project at 7pm was another strong player for the channel, pulling in a crowd of 772,000 after 518,000 tuned in at 6.30pm. The second half hour of the news panel show was the second-most watched show across the key advertising demographics.

In the 8.30pm timeslot, Seven’s Criminal Minds was watched by 660,000, Nine’s movie Man of Steel, on from 8.45pm, pulled in 437,000 and Ten’s Madam Secretary had an audience of 618,000.

In time-shifted viewing, last week’s episode of Madam Secretary was watched by an extra 197,000, taking the episode’s total audience to 814,000.

On the ABC, 7.30 was watched by 602,000, How Not To Behave (8pm) grabbed 475,000, The Weekly with Charlie Pickering (8.30pm) had an audience of 675,000 and Julia Zemiro’s Home Delivery (8.30pm) saw 548,000 tune in.

Once again there was little separating the rival factions in the breakfast battle, with Seven’s Sunrise watched by 305,000 and Nine’s Today pulling in 297,000 metro viewers.

In news, Nine News at 6pm grabbed 1.118m, dipping to 1.099m from 6.30pm while Seven News at 6pm managed to pull in 959,000 metro viewers, sliding to 929,000 from 6.30pm.
