Seven wins the night as Beauty and the Geek has a night off, with DWTS airing in its place

Seven won the night last night after a change in its usual schedule which saw Dancing with the Stars air at 7.30pm in place of Beauty and the Geek which aired last week from 8pm, with the channel grabbing an audience share of 21 per cent.

It was a night where audiences were down across the board, with no show cracking the 1m viewer mark. Dancing with the Stars, airing from 7.30pm to 9.30pm, was watched by 898,000 and was the second-most watched non-news show of the night, only beaten by Seven’s Home and Away which had an audience of 900,000 at 7pm.

The reality dancing competition won in the 7.30pm timeslot, beating Nine’s Kings Cross ER which was watched by 709,000, up on last week’s audience of 683,000.

Seven told Mumbrella it always runs a double episode of DWTS at the point in the series, with Beauty and the Geek set to return next week.

World’s Richest Dogs, on Seven at 9.30pm, was watched by 405,000.

Also on Nine, which managed an audience share of 18.5 per cent, Big Brother boosted its audience to 630,000 at 8.35pm, up from last week’s audience of 543,000 and was only beaten in its timeslot by DWTS. Big Brother was the most watched show amongst the 16-39 and the 18-49 demographics.

ABC’s Upper Middle Bogan, which went head-to-head with Big Brother and Ten’s Madam Secretary in the 8.30pm timeslot, saw its audience tumble to 530,000 in its third outing, down from 645,000.

Over on Ten, Madam Secretary grabbed an audience of 525,000, down slightly on last week’s audience of 533,000. It was the most times-shifted show, with an extra 136,000 viewers watching, taking its total audience to 669,000.

Family Feud was Ten’s best performing show with an audience of 570,000 while The Project at 7PM had an audience of 518,000. A repeat of Save with Jamie at 7.30pm was watched by 404,000.

Ten did just manage to pip the ABC in terms of audience share, grabbing a share of 11.9 per cent compared to the ABC’s share of 11.6 per cent.

Nine News was the most watched show of the night with an audience of 956,000, well ahead of Seven News’ audience of 893,000. At 6.30pm Nine won the slot with 954,000 viewers, with Seven News/Today Tonight combo growing to 917,000.
