Seven’s Revenge a hit with 2m

Seven’s new thriller series Revenge made a strong debut on Monday night, rating with over 2m across the five city metro, according to preliminary results from OzTam.

The heavily promoted US show, about a girl seeking revenge for the false imprisonment of her father, knocked Seven’s other hit My Kitchen Rules from the top of the ratings for the first time this year.

While Revenge won all demographics, it was the biggest hit with the 25-54 demo, with 1m across the five cities.

The cooking show placed second overall while still equaling its strongest showing of 1.66m.

Nine’s Big Bang Theory was third overall with 1.48m viewers.

Up against Revenge in the 8:30pm slot, Nine also debuted its new prison thriller Alcatraz, with a double episode.

Alcatraz’s first episode ranked eighth over all and took 1.12m viewers. The second episode ranked nineth with 1.03m viewers.
