Shake-up at Perth’s Mix94.5 moves breakfast to Drive and Drive to Breakfast

Southern Cross Austereo’s Mix 94.5FM has changed its lineup in Perth, effectively swapping the Breakfast Bunch for the Drive crew.

Fred Botica and Lisa Shaw from breakfast show ‘The Bunch’ will host their last Breakfast show on October 25 and the station’s current Drive team Clairsy, Shane and Kymba, Dean Clairs, Shane McFarlane, and Kymba Cahill, will move to the breakfast show from October 28.

The breakfast team, who have been in the early morning slot for 15 years, will launch a new drive show in 2014.

In the meantime Shaw will team up with mix94.5 announcer Tim Lordan on the Drive shift, and Botica, who has worked in radio for 44 years, will take a break.

“I had wanted to take long service leave for some time and when we decided the timing was right to move to Drive I thought this was the perfect opportunity,” he said.

In the latest radio ratings from Nielsen, MixFM lost its lead as the number one station in Perth.

The Breakfast Bunch have fallen behind commercial rivals on Nova’s breakfast show hosted by Nathan, Nat and Shaun in recent surveys and ABC720’s breakfast show hosted by Eoin Cameron dominated with a 14.6 share of the audience in the latest Nielsen ratings over Mix 94.5’s 11.7 per cent share.

Linda Wayman, General Manager of Southern Cross Austereo Perth said: “Botica’s Bunch, later known simply as The Bunch, has dominated Perth Breakfast radio for more than 15 years. Their last day as a breakfast show will mark the end of an era and will be a huge milestone in the history of mix94.5.”
