Sharks off Bondi
Here’s a nice piece of digital work highlighting the risk of sharks off Bondi Beach.
Rather than describe it here, follow the link to Australian Coastal Watch, and click on the plus sign to see the powerful image.
Good work by the agency that created it – Jack Watts Currie. The team I thought might be behind it tell me it’s not theirs, so if anyone knows who deserves the credit, let me know.
I’ve already been forwarded this by email, which hints that it may be go viral.

I’m missing something, doesn’t work for me on Minefield (beta Firefox) or IE 8. I get the 3 or so levels of magnification and then, when it opens another window, nothing. Doesn’t help when it doesn’t work with the newest browsers, guys…

Clever.
I just hope that “Shark Week” won’t be full of sensationalist guff portraying all sharks as man-eating monsters.
Sharks are in the shit, and need our help. “Jaws” is an old-school example of the power of media on popular thinking – it’s been attributed directly to population decline of the species, as “recreational” fishing and hunting ramped up alongside already disasterous commercial over-fishing.
Oh, and I’m pretty sure sharks don’t “roar”.

..sure it wasn’t the final piece in the ‘Best Job in the World’ campaign?….that’d be enough to send any potential tourists further north I reckon!! BTW nice placement next to Opinion article – interview with Anthony Hayes – CEO Tourism QLD. If the Sydney taxi’s don’t get ya, the man eating sharks off Bondi will : )
