Digital agency Soap Linked by Isobar managing director Ross Raeburn has been appointed commercial director of IPG Mediabrands as it continues to bolster its senior management ranks.

Raeburn takes on the commercial director role with IPG Mediabrands following nearly five years as Soap MD, and nine years with the agency, with Soap’s founders Brad Eldridge and Ash Ringrose to take on the joint-MD role of the digital agency.

The Dentsu Aegis Network acquired Soap in February, renaming it Soap Linked by Isobar.

He first joined Soap in July 2006 as digital strategist before taking on the MD role in September 2010. Previously he was the head of community at Yahoo7 and was the online manager at Pacific Magazines.

A spokesperson for Soap Linked by Isobar described Raeburn as a “great asset to the team”.

“Ross has been with Soap for over 9 years and in that time progressed all the way to MD. He’s been a great asset to the team and we’ll miss him immensely. Brad and Ash will continue as joint MDs and we’ll make other announcements in the future,” they said.

At IPG Mediabrands Raeburn will work across all aspects of the business, with his main remit to further evolve and apply the group’s capabilities to “deliver more refined and effective business communications solutions” .

“Ross has been on our most-wanted-list for a senior role here for many years,” said IPG Mediabrands global CEO and chairman of Australia, Henry Tajer in a statement. “I have worked in parallel with him on client assignments at our respective agencies and I admire his professional skills, vision for his clients and his approach to talent development.”

On joining IPG Mediabrands Raeburn said in a statement: “Ross Raeburn said “Mediabrands is a very interesting and impressive group of businesses that have rapidly embraced ownership and leadership in digital communications for their clients. I’m looking forward to joining the impressive team, adding my own professional experience to their existing momentum.”

Former Ikon boss Dan Johns remains in the role of group commercial director for IPG Mediabrands.

In recent weeks Mediabrands has poached GroupM trading director Danny Bass as its CEO and Mediacom CEO Mark Pejic as chairman of its Melbourne group.

Raeburn joins the team in early August.
