Sony Australia appoints Jamie Wong to community manager
Jamie Wong has been appointed to Sony Australia as community manager.
The announcement:
Sony Australia today announced the appointment of Jamie Wong as the company’s first Community Manager. Tasked with expanding Sony’s presence in the social media space, Wong will also begin a recruitment drive to expand Sony Australia’s advocate group – Sony X.
Wong began his career with Sony Australia ten years ago and has held roles across customer service, sales and product marketing.
“Often referred to within the company as “Mr Sony”, Jamie’s passion for the Sony brand and products is infectious,” said Kelly Ehrlich, Sony Australia’s Brand, Community and PR Manager. “He was our first choice for this new role, with an ability to set the tone for Sony across multiple social media platforms and to create real connections with Sony fans. Having recently hit the 100,000 fan milestone on Facebook, we’re already seeing the brand advocacy effects of delivering unique, engaging activities in this growing area of marketing.”
Sony established its customer advocate group – Sony X – in October 2010 and has given members the opportunity to trial Sony products, experience money-can’t-buy brand and product opportunities in Australia and overseas, and express their opinions to help shape the future of Sony. Building on the success of Sony X, Sony is opening up applications to join the group once again. Those who love any kind of technology or digital entertainment should apply to join the group here: Sony X members will receive exclusive benefits, offers, competitions and more.

“I’m particularly excited by the potential of our Sony X group,” Wong continued. “I have experienced firsthand just how passionate this team is about Sony and our products, and I really love the idea that we’re going to offer more Australians the chance to take part in this unique project.
