Sony launches ‘Summertainment’

Electronics giant Sony has coined a new phrase – ‘Summertainment’ in a campaign to welcome the summer.

The campaign will see Sony Music feature Summertainment branding in its major advertising and retail activity, while Sony Australia is partnering with surf brand Billabong to create a Summertainment TVC promoting ‘1001 things to do’ during summer.

Sony has also launched an app called ‘1001 things to do’ across Sony’s Facebook platforms, which will include competitions with prizes including a trip to Hawaii and a Slash signed guitar.

Nicolas Barendson, GM of marketing, Sony Australia, said: “The Sony group of companies combined can deliver the entertainment people love – music, movies and games – and the products they use to enjoy this. In this three-month long campaign, Sony can engage and entertain people throughout the entire summer period.”

He added: “We worked closely across the group to create a social media activation that will engage all our fans.  This joint campaign allows us to reach over 2 million of the Sony companies’ combined Facebook fans with the best activities to do indoors or outdoors – integrating movies, music, gadgets, gaming, prizes and more.”
