Hit Network drops Scoopla and extends Hamish & Andy show in evening programming reshuffle
Southern Cross Austereo’s Hit Network has overhauled its evening schedule, dropping Jules Lund and Emma Freedman’s The Scoopla show and extending Hamish & Andy’s drive program for an extra hour.
Lund, who co-hosted the ill-fated 2DayFM breakfast show in 2014 alongside Merrick Watts, Sophie Monk and Mel B, will now take up a strategic role working on digital marketing initiatives with agencies and advertisers in the business.
His co-host on the Scoopla, Emma Freedman, has already been named as a new host of an as-yet-to-be-revealed evening show with Angus O’Loughlin, to replace the recently axed Shazam Top 20 program.
Former weather presenter Freedman, who won Dancing With The Stars last year, made headlines in 2015 when she was announced as the newsreader for Hamish & Andy in the drive slot at the same time SCA made a number of other newsreaders redundant.
She has been co-hosting a Hit 30 show with O’Loughlin for the past few weeks, and the pair will present the Take 40 chart on Saturday afternoons.
While Hamish Blake and Andy Lee’s drive show has been extended until 7:00pm the extra hour will be the ‘Déjà vu Hour’, revisiting some of the segments from earlier in the show.
Dave Cameron, Head of National Content and Development, says ‘Having Hamish & Andy show content on air across the whole 4:00pm to 7:00pm drive period, followed by the brilliant new national night-time combination of Angus and Emma sets up an exciting 2016 for the Hit network nationally.’
Lund made headlines in the marketing press last year when he launched a micro-transaction influencer network called Tribe.
In the release, Cameron said: “Jules Lund is a thought leader in the digital marketing space and moves in to a strategic role that allows SCA to capitalise on these strengths. From consulting to the country’s largest media agencies to directing branded content, Jules will help ensure SCA is future-ready with innovation at its core.”

Poor Jules Lund- cannot get a gig. Should have stayed with Getaway

The sad thing is, Jules Lund is actually excellent radio talent but they keep pairing him with morons

I don’t know why Georgie & Danny see this as a bad thing or a demotion for Jules. He is genuinely interested in the digital things to the point that he recently launched his own agency.

mmmmm…if you don’t stick with it you won’t get an outcome.
Too many knee jerks are undermining a real opportunity here.

Coke Monster, I don’t see it as a demotion and he would obviously be happy with his new position. My comment was, giving a listener’s point of view, saying that he is very easy on the ear but his shows become unlistenable because of the “talent” that he gets paired with

All good comments so far.

With those blue eyes Jules should have stuck to TV. His eyes are wasted on radio.
