Sphere Agency wins Melbourne Heart FC

The Sphere Agency has been appointed as advertising agency for Victoria’s new A-League soccer team Melbourne Heart.

“Our first task is to announce the team’s existence to the people of Melbourne,” said Sphere creative director Darren Fishman  “This is being done across outdoor, press and radio with a campaign that highlights the club’s traditional looking strip. We feel the strongest emotional link between fans and a club is the jumper or shirt they wear, so this has been the focus of our initial roll out.”

  8. I agree. Decent name that was voted for by the Melbourne public and a clever logo. With both name and logo Heart have taken a risk and at least these are a departure from the predicable Americanised versions that most of the new Australian sports franchises go for.

  10. Heart is also the name of one of Scotland’s and the world’s oldest clubs.

  12. I know nothing about soccer outside of Santo, Sam and Ed’s Cup Fever, but I really like that. As a bit of a design nerd, I also love the logo.

  14. Their first promo is an outing at Fed Square tomorrow, which should do well for them, seeing as how public transport is free in Melbourne tomorrow,

  16. After my AFL teams continued rubbish results, I think I might jump on the Heart bandwagon.
