Spotify to launch next week as Radinck van Vollenhoven joins to drive sales
Dutchman Radinck van Vollenhoven has joined music streaming service Spotify to drive the platform’s commercial operations when it officially launches in Australia next week.
He set up the sales functions for Spotify in the Netherlands before its launch in 2010.
Van Vollenhoven is working with the former head of YouTube Australia Kate Vale, who has updated her profile on LinkedIn as Spotify’s managing director. Mumbrella reported in November last year that Vale had joined Spotify as sales director.
Spotify is to officially launch on Tuesday although invitations to try the service are already in circulation..
Van Vollenhoven joins from Digital Music Distribution, a joint venture in Australia and New Zealand between Universal Music and Sony Music, where he was general manager.
Part of Van Vollenhoven’s role will be to talking to the media, advertisers and agencies to explain the platform’s offering. He was unavailable for comment at the time of going to press.
Spotify is currently advertising for an ANZ marketing manager.
Interesting. Also worth checking out is rdio.com which offers a competing service to Spotify in most major markets. It launched about a month ago in Australia and so far seems to be pretty good

It’s great to hear the launch is imminent… we’ve been waiting!
No doubt Kate & Radinck will (again) take an exciting new entrant into the ANZ market & give it the momentum that it has in other markets.
Good luck Spotify downunder!
