Stephen Browning to run News Limited comms

Stephen Browning HeadshotStephen Browning is to be the public voice of News Limited in the coming weeks, the company announced.

Browning has been named as the company’s acting director of communications following the departure of Greg Baxter.

Browning has been director of corporate affairs for News Digital Media since 2008, taking on The Australian in 2010.

Last year saw him help mastermind the company’s communications around the launch of paid digital subscriptions for The Australian.

News Limited CEO Kim Williams said: “As the company goes through a substantial transformation program it is of central importance that our internal and external communications are managed and executed carefully.

“Since joining News at the end of last year I have been enormously impressed with Stephen’s work and want him to play a key role in our new corporate affairs and communications team. While we decide exactly what form the team will take, I have asked him to lead our internal and external communications, reporting directly to me.”

Browning joined News Limited in 2006. He previously worked at Austar and at UK broadcast British Sky Broadcasting. He began his career as a music industry publicist.
