Surfing Australia launches branded content TV play extending IPTV channel

mysurf.tvA new surfing show is set to air on Network Ten’s digital channel One from this Sunday which has been brand funded by Surfing Australia and content creation house Brand New Media (BNM).

The 30-minute mySURF.tv show is an extension of the IPTV channel which was created last December, with the 12-part series hosted by Joel Hurrey of Domestic Blitz fame and leading Australian female pro-junior surfer Ellie-Jean Coffey, showcasing the “best surfing footage and profiles from Australia and around the globe”.

Simon Joyce, managing director of BNM Australia and New Zealand said: “mySURF.tv is a terrific example of how smart brands can leverage premium video content to generate revenue streams, and develop an archive of valuable assets.  Brands now have the opportunity to become broadcasters and engage directly with their target audience.

“The launch of mySurf.tv on ONE takes this to the next level and demonstrates the commercial possibilities when an enterprise is committed to creating exceptional proprietary content.”

The first episode airing at 4pm on Sunday involves three-time World Champion Mick Fanning, Morning of the Earth creator Alby Falzon and legendary surfboard shaper Mitchel Rae, Aussie ASP World Championship Tour rookie Nikki Van Dijk and West Australian young gun Jack Robinson.

CEO of Surfing Australia, Andrew Stark added “Surfing Australia is extremely excited to be producing our latest 12-part TV series mySURF.tv to be aired on ONE nationally commencing this Sunday. It is important for Surfing Australia to reach a broader audience and for us to increase the profile of our sport Australia wide.”
