The Transport and Accident Commission in Victoria has confirmed its interim head of marketing Geraldine James has been handed the role on a full-time basis.

James replaces Simon Strahan who departed in December after just nine months in the role, and has now been made marketing manager at DrinkWise Australia.

She has been with the government body since 2011 as advertising manager, and had previously worked for Grey Melbourne as a senior account director, servicing the TAC amongst other clients.

A statement from TAC said: “Geraldine has significant experience as a senior executive in creative agencies, and provided terrific leadership at the TAC while overseeing a smooth transition to our new creative agency.”

The TAC ended its 24-year relationship with Grey last December when it opted for Clemenger BBDO Melbourne as its creative agency.

Clems also created the recent stylish but controversial advertising campaign for DrinkWise, advocating ‘classy drinking’ to youngsters.

James has been acing as marketing manager since Strahan’s departure, and was confirmed full-time in the role last week.
