TAC begins hunt for marketing chief as Samantha Cockfield fills in for John Thompson

Victoria’s Transport Accident Commission has appointed Samantha Cockfield to run its marketing operation following the exit of John Thompson last week.

Cockfield is currently TAC’s road safety manager and fills in for Thompson, who was senior manager, road safety and marketing, while the search kicks off to find a permanent replacement.

Thompson left the TAC after eight and a half years in the role on Friday.

A TAC spokesperson said that a replacement for Thompson is expected to be made early next year, before new campaigns for 2013 kick off.

In a statement to Mumbrella, the TAC’s chief executive Janet Dore paid tribute to Thompson’s role in curbing road deaths in Victoria: “John has a passion for road safety and his marketing expertise has left a lasting legacy on TAC’s work to reduce road trauma.”

“We’ll be continuing the work that John has been a part of, and wish him well for the future,” she said.
