Ten to stick with I Wanna Marry Harry despite US axing
Ten has said it will continue to air the poorly rating I Wanna Marry Harry despite the show being dropped from broadcast by its network in the US.
However, from this coming Friday the reality contest – in which a group of women are tricked into thinking they are competing to marry Prince Harry – will be moved back to 10.30pm.
On Friday, the show rated just 244,000 capital city viewers in the 8.30pm slot for Ten. The network had originally identified the show as a building block for its key Sunday night schedule, but had a change of heart before it began to air.
Late last week, US network Fox too the decision to remove I Wanna Marry Harry from its schedules and make the remaining episodes – which have already been shot – available online only.
Asked whether Ten had any plans to pull the show from broadcast, a spokesman replied “No”.
The spokesman added: “On Friday afternoon last week, we told TV guide publishers that “Harry” is moving to late Friday nights from this week. It will start at about 10.30pm, with the start time each week dependent on when the preceding show finishes.”
The show helped drag down Ten’s audience share on Friday night to just 9.4%. In Brisbane and Perth, Ten was beaten by Nine’s secondary digital channel Go. In Adelaide it was beaten by 7Two.

I’m thinking of pitching a new concept to rescue Ten called BSDFKRCRR:
“Biggest Singing Desperate Farmer Kitchen Renovation Chef Romance Rescue”
It will be a ratings winner because it condenses most Australian TV into one hour!

Hey it still rated better than the final episode of Jonah From Tonga. So there’s that.

Tony, I think you’re on to a winner there.
