Ten recommissions Offspring
Ten has locked in “dramedy” Offspring for two more series.
The network has commissioned another 26 episodes of the comedy drama from Southern Star.
The third series ended this week.
Ten’s chief programming officer David Mott said: “The commissioning of two new seasons of Offspring further cements Network Ten’s ongoing commitment to producing high-quality Australian drama that has a unique and interesting voice.”
The series stars Asher Keddie as obstetrician Nina Proudman. It rated a metro audience of just under 1m.
Producer Imogen Banks said: “It’s lovely to be part of a show that has been so warmly embraced. We’re thrilled to be heading into a fourth season – it’s a testament to the hard work of everyone involved.”
Banks is also at the helm of Puberty Blues, which is also being produced by Southern Star for Ten.

Sorry, Sam, but it’s a quality show – or more accurately, Asher Keddie is a quality performer.
She lifts it out of the ordinary. In every scene she appears, it runs rings around others like Packed to the Rafters et al.
I too disliked Offspring without having seen it – I accidentally caught an episode with a friend about 2 months ago.
Now I’m hooked.

Offspring for us has been one of the best contemporary dramas on the box. It’s a joy to watch!
It’s clever and quirky scripts are something that my wife and I look always forward to.
The overall production values, including the casting, acting, direction, and those great HD pictures are a lesson that other networks should match.
Good on you Ten!

I love the show too but I’m worried about how it’s going to work with Nina having a baby. I suppose it is called Offspring…..

not my cup of tea but it makes the missus bawl her eyes out every single week so must be doing something right!!
Production values, script writing etc all seem to be well above average which is refreshing in this market. My only worry is that they are continuing to produce this just because it has been successful rather than thinking about whether it actually has the legs to sustain another two series.
Sometimes the best things go out on a high…..examples like the UK office…..2 series, one christmas special, thats your lot. Everyone remembers it as something great rather than something that was once great before they flogged it to death

I’m very happy Channel TEN have commissioned another two series of OffSpring. It is a truly great show BUT how about looking after their dedicated audience in the OffSeason of OffSpring.
Although I don’t watch it at least 7 look after their Rafter’s fans with Winners & Losers mean time.
One 13 week series a year doesn’t cut it TEN. And please don’t insult our intelligence by offering us The Shire and Puberty Blues as substitutes.

BRAVO to cast, crew, WRITERS, production team and TEN!
Ditto all of the above POSITIVE comments. BRILLIANT!
So pleased to know there will be more to come.
Totally wrapped, expecting the unexpected in each episode. A Genius of Teamwork!
Any suggestions for emerging screenwriters – 2 scripts ready to go,
but where? Valscripts

@leon – Great HD pictures? Channel Ten are showing it in standard def. Unless they’re repeating it on OneHD which I’m not aware of, there is no HD to be seen.
