Terminator: Genisys bumps Jurassic World as school holidays boost kid films
Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator: Genisys has bumped Jurassic World from the top spot after pulling in $4.725m across 786 screens in its opening weekend.
The fifth Terminator film has made a total of $5.777m at the local box office since its premiere last Wednesday while Jurassic World dropped to fourth place as the school holidays helped kids films Minions and Inside Out boost their takings.
Jurassic World pulled in $3.599m across 473 screens to take its total Australian box office to $44.38m.
Minions claimed second place after taking in $4.658m across, boosting its local box office total to $19.831m.
Disney Pixar’s Inside Out held onto its third place ranking, grabbing $4.427m in tickets across 452 screens. To date it has made $16.921m at the local box office.
In at fifth place was Seth McFarlane’s Ted 2 which raked in $2.313m across 417 screens, taking its total local box office to $8.307m.
Scientology documentary Going Clear: Scientology And The Prison Of Belief made $34,403 across 18 screens, taking its total takings to $258,173.
