Dr Mumbo

The Australian reaches iPad orgasm as Apple responds by duffing up snapper

Today was iPad Day in Australia, and Dr Mumbo’s favourite newspaper, The iPadstralian didn’t disappoint.

Apple fans will be glad to know that inside the newspaper they’ll be able to find 12 photos of iPads.

Two of the three teaser slots on The Australian’s front page were given over to “”iPad mania” and “a new way of reading the news”.

The bottom of the front page carries a lengthy article (continued on page 4) on RM Williams chairman and Australian founder Ken Cowley, written by Caroline Overington. He “yesterday became one of the first people in the world to handle the digital edition of The Australian on the iPad”.

Over on page 4 Simon Canning and Jodie Minus have also been drafted in, with a further article about the launch.

And just for good measure, The Business section is encapsulated in a four page wraparound ad for The Australian’s iPad app.

Of course the front of the Business section itself carries a picture of Steve Jobs clutching an iPad.

However, it pains Dr Mumbo to report that this may be an unrequited love. It would seem that Apple doesn’t feel the same way about The Australian.

Currently, the top story on The Australia’s home page is that their photographer Alan Pryke got roughed up by Apple’s security at this morning’s Sydney iPad launch.

It’s always the one you love who can hurt you the most.
