What’s that in the picture?
There’s something in this picture of new Huffington Post Australia editor-in-chief Tory Maguire that when it’s seen, cannot be unseen.
Dr Mumbo is very curious to know exactly where this very interesting mural is daubed.
Also, as the headline in the Australian Financial Review says and Mumbrella suggested last week the HuffPo will launch its Aussie edition on August 19.
Update: Dr Mumbo notes the AFR has now changed the photo, to feature a close-up of Maguire minus the ‘offending’ object.
It’s a wind-socked directional microphone, but someone should have been paying attention during the shoot. Not a good look.

Oh yes, I just noticed it. The guy sitting to the left of Tory is left handed.

Would you make this same comment if it was a man in the picture?

It’s an allegoric tableau alluding to how Australia has been shafted by, and and allowed the shafting of, quality journalism.

@5, i believe mumbrella would have printed the same comment if the editor was a bloke, what is your point?

I wonder if this is the old mural by Salvatore Zofrea that used to hang in the Fairfax lobby in Jones st. I can’t see it online. But someone said it is in storage at Fairfax. It used journos of the day as models (perhaps why there are all men in this excerpt). The give away to its age is that someone is taking shorthand notes in a spiral notebook. Perhaps they dragged it out as a backdrop given Huff Post is produced in association with Fairfax. Just a hunch.
