Heard about the Brazilian love triangle in the fashion mag industry
We’ve had Oprah and Ellen and even Modern Family. But Dr Mumbo feels Tourism Australia’s latest marketing ploy may prove to be the best yet.
The tourist body is flexing its marketing muscle by bringing Brazilian soapie – or telenovella as they like to call it – Totalmente Demais, (Totally Awesome) to our shores.
There are four episodes of the TV drama being shot in various Aussie locations, and it’s all centred around two main characters embroiled in a dramatic love triangle in the fashion magazine industry.
Dr Mumbo hears the Marie Claire Brazil team are also in town for the filming – he wonders is fashion mag Svengali Jackie Frank might get a cameo?
With an average of 22m viewers tuning into the show every day and Brazil being one of the fastest growing markets for tourism to Australia, perhaps the partnership isn’t as outlandish as it first appears.
Yes it might attract more visitors. That should be a major TA objective. But what about addressing the experience when visitors come here? How is this fluff going to fix the crap service that visitors experience when they land in our country?
Another example of TA not focusing on the tougher core issues and just doing the more interesting stuff.
