The Checkout climbs back to 696,000 viewers after sliding last week

The Checkout boosted its audience on its third outing after seeing numbers slip off last week, grabbing a metro audience of 696,000 in the 8pm timeslot.

Last week the show slid to 603,000 after grabbing 727,000 on debut. However it was still out-rated by Seven’s Australia: The Story of Us which was watched by 723,000 metro viewers, also up on last week’s audience of 653,000.

In the absence of the reality franchises The Block and My Kitchen Rules, Nine Won the night with an audience share of 21.1 per cent, while Seven dropped to a share of 19.3 per cent. The ABC claimed third place with a share of 11.9 per cent as Ten managed a share of 11.4 per cent.

However when secondary channels are accounted for Seven and Nine tie with a total share of 28.9 per cent while Ten claimed third place with a total share of 18.2 per cent. 

Downton Abbey on Seven at 9pm boosted its audience to 723,000 after dropping to an all-time low of 640,000 last week. It beat Nine’s The Footy Show which was watched by 674,000 metro viewers. The Footy Show was the most watched program across the key-advertising demographics (16-39,18-49,25-54).

In time-shifted viewing, last week’s episode of Downton Abbey picked up an extra 269,000 viewers to take its total audience to 909,000.

In the 7.30pm timeslot, Nine’s Top Gear pulled a metro audience of 633,000 while a repeat of Modern Family on Ten was watched by 462,000. A second repeat of the US show at 8pm pulled in 535,000 metro viewers.

Both shows were out-rated by the ABC’s 7.30 which was watched by 682,000.

In news, Nine News at 6pm was watched by 955,000, dropping to 940,000 at 6.30pm while Seven News pulled an audience of 946,000 at 6pm, sliding to 940,000 at 6.30pm.
