The Daily Mail’s latest Bachelorette re-write

Dr Mumbo thinks it might be time for the Daily Mail to step away from The Bachelorette now.

Last night the website posted another Bachelorette paparazzi story – obviously the ‘court of public opinion wasn’t strict enough with its sentence after Ten’s injunction against its spoiler story on Thursday.

This time it purported to show the losing ‘hunk’ Michael Turnbull seeking comfort with a “mysterious brunette” on Friday.

Only as News.com.au points out that woman is in fact their own lifestyle reporter Vanessa Brown, who was conducting a pre-arranged interview with Turnbull. If you look closely at the Mail’s papped pictures you can even see the notebook in hand. Unsurprisingly the News Corp site has been quick to stick the boot into its fierce rival with the headline  ‘Daily Mail Australia has done it again, with a second Bachelorette paparazzi shoot missing the mark’.news.com.au attcks daily mail

In the article it also lay it on thick describing the Mail as “the most hated website in the country” after its Bachelorette spoiler.

The Mail has now altered the story from the headline ‘Moving on already? The Bachelorette’s Michael Turnbull gets cosy with mystery brunette … following emotional finale rejection from Sam Frost’ to ‘Heart on the mend? The Bachelorette’s Michael Turnbull thanks fans for their support as he seeks comfort with his family after Sam Frost’s finale rejection’. It’s also substantially altered the tone of the piece – although it’s not much of a yarn now.

Although it hasn’t yet altered its sidebar of shame tease of the yarn which reads ‘Heart on the mend? Michael Turnbull is seen laughing and smiling as he strolls with pretty brunette after Sam Frost’s finale rejection’.
