Dr Mumbo

The hotel press release translator

It’s been a while since Dr Mumbo translated a press release. But today’s the day to get back on the horse, thanks to the good folk of Perth’s Pan Pacific Hotel.

20 August 2015, Perth – Pan Pacific Perth is excited to unveil their sleek new Premier Rooms following the completion of a multi-million dollar guest room refresh which saw 124 rooms and eight suites completely remodeled.

Additionally, the Premier rooms along with all other guest rooms and public areas throughout the hotel have been equipped with enhanced connectivity to the internet enabling increased quality and reliability.

The luxurious marble bathrooms were also updated with new lighting facilities, designer fittings and amenities, making them the perfect place to refresh and rejuvenate.

“The results of the guest room refurbishment have exceeded expectations and truly delivered a sophisticated, modern oasis for our corporate and leisure travellers. Setting the tone and expectation for luxury accommodation, our guests are inspired to feel a sense of comfort and belonging from the moment they enter, provide a ‘home away from home’ every time they stay with us,” commented Craig Bond, Area General Manager, Oceania at Pan Pacific Hotels Group.

Translation: It’s nice.

Guided by the strengths and design aesthetic of the award-winning Pan Pacific brand internationally, the transformed guest rooms within Pan Pacific Perth feature a welcoming colour palette of rich greys and warm gold hues, inspired by the diverse geographical locations on the Pacific Rim. The material selection within the new rooms is soft, sensory and luxurious, enhanced by the simplicity of natural elements such as timber and stone.

Collaborating with leading international design company HASSELL, the modern, enhanced guestrooms were designed to cater to the needs of modern travellers and create a serene retreat in the heart of Perth CBD.

“Aligned with the Pan Pacific brand identity, the design has contemporary aesthetic and provides an engaging experience for discerning, seasoned world travellers who have learned to appreciate true quality in their hotel experiences,” commented Susan Standring, Principle of HASSELL.

Translation: We’re going to increase the room rate.

Pan Pacific Perth and HASSEL collectively have created a design which brings together the sophistication of contemporary Asia and the Pacific region with the rugged textures and vastness of the Western Australian landscape, creating a distinct sense of place. Interior architectural elements such as the luminous sculptural lighting will enhance guests’ enjoyment of the hotel’s soothing sensory environment as they pass through the hotel.

Translation: The lights are nice too.

HASSELL is a multi-award winning design company, with more than 850 design awards from leading industry bodies across the globe.

Translation: But jeez, you wouldn’t believe what those lights cost.

In addition to the guest room reinvigoration, Pan Pacific Perth has announced their ongoing commitment and providing memorable hotel experiences will progress to the guest arrival experience with a refurbishment of the hotel lobby now underway. The refurbishment plans will see the lobby transformed into a modern space where every guest feels a sincere and welcoming connection from the moment they walk through the door.

Upon arrival, guests will be warmly greeted by the Front Office associates at the new pod style check-in counters. The upgraded layout and furnishings will enable a welcoming, spacious and engaging atmosphere, again encapsulating the warm hues of the Pacific Rim.

Translation: There are desks downstairs too. And the staff have been told to be nice to people.

This sense of serenity will be enhanced by the presence of a water feature within the lobby creating a calm and serene environment.

Translation: We’ve installed a fountain.

“Warmth and freshness are evocative of a Pacific welcome and the design of the reception area evokes both these senses. The new reception connects areas within the ground plan and visual way finding is simplified through the provision of unobstructed views of reception and the concierge desk immediately upon entry.

Translation: But we got rid of that pot plant that was blocking the view.

Lantern providing illumination above the reception pods are a subtle reference to the hotel’s Asian links, and highlight the reception area’s distinct personality,” commented Susan of HASSELL.

Translation: We’ve put some really big lights above the reception desks.

For the record, Mumbrella Perth was held at the Pan Pacific back in February. And (apart from the coffee machine blowing up just when the delegates needed their caffeine) it was nice.
