The red undies of Photoshop
There’s a nice piece of tabloid story telling in The Daily Telegraph today with media minister Stephen Conroy’s infamous comments at a conference coming back to haunt him: “If I say to everyone in this room: ‘If you want to bid next week in our spectrum auction, you’d better wear red underpants on your head’, I’ve got some news for you. You’ll be wearing them on your head. I have unfettered legal power.”
With the auction apparently stumbling, it’s an opportunity for the paper to run an appropriate image.
But best of all, it strikes Dr Mumbo, is the obligatory caption, which comes straight from the department of “No shit, Sherlock”:
10.30am update: Dr Mumbo learns that Gizmodo beat The Daily Telegraph to it back in September. Scandalously, they failed to explain to their readers that the incredibly plausible image had been digitally altered.
Anyone else published similar images? Dr Mumbo is thinking of starting a Stephen Conroy With Red Underpants On His Head Tumblr account.
I think The Daily Telegraph did the right thing – a complete nitwit like Conroy is likely to make a big deal out of leaving that off the caption.
Alternatively, he might get all teary (remember the milk, Senator?)

So if Gizmodo got there first, would you saying the Tele’s image is ‘redundiant?’
