The Renovators demolished in new timeslot
Ten’s high hopes for The Renovators are in tatters after it received a five-city metro audience of only 786,000 – ranking 11th for the night – after switching to the 7:30 timeslot vacated by Masterchef.
The Renovators came third in the slot beaten not only by The Block on Nine (1.55m) but Seven’s Unlikely Animal Friends 2, which pulled in 1.2 million, according to preliminary metro ratings from OzTam.
However, after The Block concluded at 8pm The Renovators average audience grew to 942,000, suggesting that renovation fans might be willing to make the switch when The Block concludes at the end of next week.
Can of Worms’ shift to the earlier time of 8:40 worked in its favour with an audience of 745,000, up by 152,o00 on last week.
In an interview at The Renovators launch last month, David Mott, chief programming director at Ten told Mumbrella there was no plan B if The Renovators doesn’t work.

Ten’s programmers would also point to the slow start of Masterchef which eventually became a ratings hit.
Masterchef’s first series in 2009 saw a ranking which hovered around 8th in the third week of the series.
Ten sees the series return tonight of American hit sitcom Modern Family at 8pm.
Nine beat Seven in the morning and game show battles with Today beating Sunrise with 366,000 over 359,000 and Hot Seat’s 670,000 defeating Deal Or No Deal’s 663,000.
Having six out of the top 10 shows on Seven helped the network to a win for Monday with a 23.7% share.
ABC1 was third for the night with 13.2% ahead of Ten on 13.1%.

Ten has showed contempt for its loyal Masterchef Viewers by attempting an audience grab for its new show Renovators. I am not a programmer but as a Masterchef viewer, I feel obliged state what I consider to be rather obvious in contibuting to the sub par ratings of The Renovators…..
1 The Block has satifsied current appetite for DIY shows….should have waited to put some air between the two.
2 If they thought most of the Masterchef audience were going to commit another schlep of marathon , reality knockout TV, I think they have misjudged the apetite to do this.
3 What viewers might have commited, were so incensced by the tactics on Sunday night that they are voting with their remote in principle.
Poor show Ten…
