The sad tale of ‘The Last Advertising Agency on Earth’
In our history we’ve learnt of how many mighty empires have fallen. There were the Romans, the Mayans… and then the advertising agency?
This video, created to promote an upcoming digital and technology festival in Toronto, is shot in documentary style and tells the story of the demise of a mock ad agency.
The narrator talks about the agency’s “arrogance” and “ignorance” and how it chose to ignore all the changes occurring around them.
It’s the story of “The Last Advertising Agency on Earth”.
Dr Mumbo only wonders if anyone else finds it a tad ironic that Saatchi & Saatchi created the video.
It pissed somebody off, that’s for sure:

I agree with much in the video, however… though advertising is like a cockroach: we’ll never die. You’re just going to have to learn to live with us.

And while clients are wanting multichannel and social media strategies and solutions they are not giving up their television commercials. So to paraphrase Mark Twain “reports of my death are greatly exaggerated”
opinionated, divisive, thought-provoking, stimulating, excessive, challenging, annoying… whether you love or hate it, it’s going to make you react … if only all advertising did the same…
the adcontrarian rant is funny and welcome, and there’s plenty of counter opinions from the “suicidal Twitterati” out there: http://www.feedingthepuppy.com.....gency.html

Hubris always kills things. It kills agencies that forget they’re there to serve clients. But it will kill arrogant digital consultancies just as fast.
@Tom – that Ad Contrarian is a genius isn’t he?

I like the orgy party, now that does bear some connection to the Roman decadence. A glorious culmination of all that’s old & traditional, et tu Brute?
